The Sony FX30 is a compact Cinema Line camera designed for visual storytellers and filmmakers. It combines a Super 35 back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor with 4K recording, S-Cinetone, S-Log3 and Dual Base ISO for cinematic imagery and efficient workflows.

Advanced technology for outstanding resolution

The FX30's back-illuminated Exmor R™ APS-C CMOS sensor captures imagery with outstanding resolution and shallow depth of field. 6K oversampling compresses a large amount of information into 4K recording and output, while the BIONZ XR™ processing engine enables natural gradations, realistic colour reproduction and low noise.

16-bit RAW output via HDMI

For demanding workflows, 16-bit RAW output is available over HDMI connection to compatible external recorders. RAW video output is 4672 x 2628 [16:9] resolution, exceeding DCI-4K resolution. Compatible external recorders support RAW formats such as ProRes RAW and Blackmagic RAW.

Two CFexpress Type A and SD card compatible media slots

CFexpress Type A provides fast write and read speeds suitable for 4K movie recording at high bit rates. The two media slots enable either relay or simultaneous recording.

Flexible high-resolution touch-panel LCD monitor

The side-opening vari-angle rear monitor provides broad positioning and framing freedom. It is bright enough for outdoor daytime viewing and includes a swipe-to-access function menu.

Wireless monitoring and remote control

Connect a smartphone or tablet to the camera using the Monitor and Control app for wireless monitoring, high-precision exposure adjustment and focus control on a larger screen.

Image stabilisation and easier editing with Catalyst

Camera-shake metadata is recorded by the built-in gyro, allowing handheld footage to be smoothed and stabilised during post-production. Sony's Catalyst Browse / Catalyst Prepare desktop application can be used to balance automated shake compensation and image-trimming levels while making use of recorded camera-rotation data.

Environmental measures with the FX30

The SORPLAS™ material used in the FX30 is repeatedly recyclable, durable, oil resistant and high quality. Other recyclable materials are also used for the camera bodies where possible, reducing environmental impact without compromising performance or functionality.
