Super-directional: capture sound directly in front of the camera

The super-directional pickup pattern captures audio from a focused area in front of the microphone. It is suited to recording interviews or selfies while suppressing sound from the sides and rear.

Unidirectional: capture a wide field in front of the mic

The unidirectional mode captures sound from a wider area in front of the microphone while suppressing sound from behind, making it suitable for panel discussions or groups of musicians.

Omnidirectional: gather sound from all directions

The omnidirectional pattern provides equal sensitivity in all directions, making it suitable for recording conversations and general environmental sounds surrounding the camera.

Cable-free setup

When used with a compatible camera featuring an MI Shoe, the ECM-B10 provides a cable-free connection. This helps keep cables out of the way while shooting and reduces the possibility of mechanical noise being transmitted through cables and connectors.
