Two high-precision XA elements, two ED elements, two Super ED elements and a floating focus mechanism help control chromatic aberration, astigmatism, distortion and coma throughout the zoom and aperture range. Nano AR Coating II suppresses flare and ghosting for clear imagery.

Stunning G Master bokeh

The constant F2.8 aperture provides exquisite bokeh throughout the zoom range, supported by advanced optical design and a new 11-blade aperture unit. Precise spherical aberration control and XA elements with 0.01-micron precision help produce smooth bokeh while suppressing onion-ring effects.

The minimum focusing distance is 0.21m at 24mm and 0.30m at 70mm, with a maximum magnification of 0.32x.

Four XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors, a floating focus mechanism and advanced lens control provide high AF precision and approximately 2x better tracking performance while zooming compared with the previous model. With a compatible camera body, continuous shooting up to 30fps is supported.

Excellent control and reliability in any environment

The updated dust- and moisture-resistant design provides reliability for outdoor shooting, while the fluorine coating helps keep the front element clean. The supplied lens hood features an opening for convenient operation of optional circular polarizing and variable ND filters. Two customisable focus hold buttons provide convenient control in different shooting orientations.
