Two newly developed XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors and advanced algorithms provide higher thrust and faster, more precise focus drive. Moving-subject tracking performance can improve by up to 5x, supporting dynamic sports and wildlife shooting with advanced camera bodies.

Stunning G Master resolution and bokeh

The lens delivers outstanding resolution to the image edges, while three fluorite elements minimise chromatic aberration. Carefully controlled spherical aberration contributes to high-quality G Master bokeh. Optional 1.4x and 2.0x tele-converters provide support for shooting at focal lengths up to 800mm.

Remarkably lightweight at just 2,895 g

The optical design uses three fluorite elements to reduce the number of elements near the front of the lens barrel, helping achieve a weight of 2,895 grams. Durable magnesium alloy components further reduce weight while providing excellent balance for handheld or monopod operation.

Durability and reliability for challenging conditions

The dust- and moisture-resistant design provides reliability for outdoor shooting in challenging conditions. Magnesium alloy is used for the lens barrel exterior, tripod mount and interior barrel components. The front element features a fluorine coating that helps keep the lens clean and makes dirt and fingerprints easier to remove.
