The lens uses three aspherical lens elements and a short flange back unique to mirrorless cameras to achieve a compact design weighing only 162 g (5.8 oz). It is suitable for scenery, snapshots, movie shooting with a gimbal and selfie shooting using its wide angle of view. Its compact design matches both full-frame and APS-C bodies.

High corner-to-corner image quality from state-of-the-art optics

Three aspherical elements and one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element deliver high resolution while suppressing colour fringing throughout the image. The aspherical elements compensate for various aberrations, while the ED glass element suppresses chromatic aberration and reduces colour fringing in the image periphery.

Beautiful natural bokeh

The 7-blade circular aperture, combined with precise control of spherical aberration, delivers the beautiful natural bokeh of the G Lens.

Double linear motors for fast, precise and quiet AF

Two linear motors provide fast, precise autofocus with superb tracking performance. The AF system is designed to maximise camera body performance and is suitable for shooting both movies and stills.

Excellent close-up performance

The lens provides a minimum focus distance of 24 cm (0.79 ft) in AF and 18 cm (0.59 ft) in MF. Close-up shooting can make the subject stand out against a blurred background. The wide 24-mm angle of view also makes the lens suitable for selfie shooting with a gimbal or grip.

High operability and reliability in a compact design

The lens features a focus hold button, focus mode switch, aperture ring, aperture click switch and Linear Response MF for intuitive operation. The metal (aluminium) exterior finish of the lens body and hood contributes to strength and durability.
