The FE 400–800mm F6.3-8 G OSS covers a 400–800mm super-telephoto range. An optional 2x teleconverter can extend the maximum focal length to 1600mm. The internal zoom design keeps the lens length unchanged and minimises centre-of-gravity shift for stable handling.

Cutting-edge optical design gives high resolution and natural bokeh throughout the zoom range

Six ED glass elements effectively control chromatic aberration, while flare and ghosting are suppressed in backlit conditions. An 11-blade circular aperture helps create beautiful ball bokeh and smooth, creamy background bokeh.

Fast, precise AF captures even fast-moving subjects

Two precision linear motors drive the focus group for fast, accurate autofocus. Tracking continues while zooming, while the focus-range limiter provides optimised operation for different subject distances. Focus breathing is also suppressed for refined movie quality and quiet operation.

Solid support for handheld or tripod-mounted shooting

Optical image stabilisation supports handheld shooting with the 400–800mm range. Compatible α bodies can provide additional stabilisation performance. For tripod shooting, the mount foot can be rotated for horizontal or vertical orientation.
