Three XA (extreme aspherical) elements, including the largest ever made, work with one aspherical element to deliver stunning G Master resolution throughout the image area. Two Super ED and three ED glass elements help suppress chromatic aberration, while Nano AR Coating II minimises flare and ghosting.

Constant F2.8 brightness

The constant F2.8 maximum aperture makes the 12–24mm zoom suitable for night scenes, starry skies and other low-light subjects. It allows shooting at low sensitivities without requiring extremely slow shutter speeds.

The lens features a focus hold button, focus mode switch, zoom ring and focus ring for smooth operation. Alternative functions can be assigned to the focus hold button through compatible camera body menu settings.
